The Truvia Baking Blend would be easier to measure out. Since the Sweet Leaf powdered stevia is so concentrated, it may be difficult to measure out the right amount for the right amount of sweetness (especially for the crust, which doesn’t need a lot of sweetener). If you use the Truvia Baking Blend, you’ll need 4 1/2 tsp for the crust and 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp for the filling. For the filling, run the sweetener through a blender or food processor first to make it a powdered consistency – this will ensure a smoother texture in your cheesecake.

On a keto diet you really have to keep track of the grams of carbohydrates you are consuming per meal. Wheat belly recommends no more than 20g per meal. (You may need lower for weight loss.) Since conventional yogurt usually has a lot of sugar added, yogurt is usually not considered to be good for a keto diet. Yoplait low fat (thus more sugar) strawberry yogurt has 33 gram carbs per 6 oz.
I’ve about lost my mind over this one. It tastes the most like the real think I’ve tried. I’ve made it three times in 2 weeks and sent it to everyone I know who is low carb. Made it with and without the crust and it’s awesome both ways. Made minis the first time -awesome! I had a minor tweak because I ran out of Swerve. I used 1 cup of that and 1/4 cup splenda plus I doubled the lemon. So, so good. Thank you!
The biggest shifts in your daily habits will be how you food shop and how you cook, and recipes that are ketogenic need to be followed rather than just low-carb. You will require the healthy fats in order to get into ketosis and have enough energy without the carbs. And you will be considerably more energetic and healthier when cooking your own keto-friendly food rather than buying supposedly keto foods off the shelf.
Any suggestion to substitute cream cheese with something else (not dairy and keto-friendly)? I’ve decided to try this recipe using ghee instead of butter because it doesn’t hurt me, but it’s the only “dairy” that I tolerate (if perfectly clarified, of course… no lactose nor casein allowed for me). And I’ll omit the fruity topping, but I’m thinking to experiment with a home-made sugar free “coffee syrup” using powdered decaffeinated coffee, some kind of thickening (maybe gelatin) and powdered erythritol. Do you think it could be fine?

Hi Liz, As far as the Swerve goes, most online calculators don’t subtract sugar alcohols when showing net carbs, so that may be the issue. Regarding the butter, all butter is keto approved (as long as it’s real butter). 🙂 If you calculated by hand, then let me know which ingredient is showing a lot of carbs for you and I can help determine what was off. The few net carbs in the recipe come from almond flour and cream cheese. The brands of pantry ingredients I use are linked in the recipe card (pink links). I use Kerrygold for the butter and Philadelphia for the cream cheese.
I make this crustless as I didn’t have the ingredients the first time I made it. Everyone loved it so much I always make it crustless. Lol. I also ran out of powdered swerve the last two times I made it, so my ratio is 1 cup powdered swerve and 1/4 cup granulated. It actually tastes better and has great texture. I served this to my husbands family and told them it was keto so if they didn’t like it they didn’t have to eat it. I had them all love it and go back for seconds! Been keto for 14 weeks and make this about every two weeks!

Hi Maya! Will be trying this recipe for my husband’s birthday this weekend. I’m new to keto and my husband is supporting me with cutting out sugar as much as he can. I just have 1 question – in the nutrition facts, you mentioned net carbs 5g, fiber 1g and sugar 2g. What is the difference between net carbs and sugar? I thought the sugar count is a part of total carbs subtracting the fiber which would mean the sugar count is equal to the net carbs? Hope you can explain further! Thank you 🙂
Notice that things like Hot Dogs and Sausage are listed. There are also other meats that contain carbs. A big part of Keto is making sure you’re eating good quality foods with whole ingredients. Processed meats like these often have fillers and sugars. If you eat these occasionally, it’s not the end of the world. However, even if you’re hitting your macros, we recommend limiting processed foods like these meats.
I am on a ketogenic diet from last 9 days but no change in my weight.I also walk briskly for an hour on treadmill and cycle apart from some exercises.i take three meals in d day comprising of eggs (2)and cottage cheese in the morning with green tea with coconut milk,Red meat 2pieces or chicken with tomatoes or spinach cooked in olive oil in lunch and egg scramble and 1 piece of meat in evening.please suggest me what should I do to go into ketosis immediately
