Hi do you boil the heavy whipping cream 1st? I make SCD yogurt. specific carbohydrate diet.. and I add my own cultures which requires you to 1st boil the milk To kill off any bad bacterias then let it cool and add powdered enzymes then let it ferment for 24 hours so the enzymes can eat all the lactose making it lactose free. I was thinking of using whipping cream instead of milk but wasn’t sure about the boiling process?

Hi Stephanie, Unfortunately coconut flour doesn’t work as a 1:1 replacement for almond flour, due to it’s moisture absorbing properties. So, you’d need a different crust if you want to use coconut flour. You could use the crust from my pina colada cheesecake cupcakes instead – just follow the instructions from that recipe for the crust, but press into the springform pan instead of cupcake liners. From there you can follow this regular cheesecake recipe the same way as written. Hope that helps!
Korma is a mild curry dish and is often what people try first when they are experimenting with Indian cookery. It has a creamy sauce which is made using all the usual Indian spices, but it does not have the heat of some curries. This great Keto recipe is also gluten-free but full of taste and would make a great family meal served over cauliflower rice.
We already mentioned that fruit is an important source of vitamin C. Well, fruit is also a great way of meeting your daily needs for potassium and folate – two nutrients that studies show most people are not eating enough [5]. You will also find these nutrients in certain vegetables, but fruit is a more reliable source of these nutrients as it is, more often than not, eaten fresh.
Although you'll be cutting way back on carbohydrates and sugar, some fruits are still okay to eat on the keto diet (though you'll still want to be mindful about quantity in order to remain in ketosis). The fruits that make the cut contain far fewer carbs than their off-limits cousins such as apples, pears, bananas, pineapples, papayas, grapes, and fruit juices in general.
Dehydrated fruit. When fruit is dehydrated, the moisture is removed. This process makes dehydrated fruit more nutrient dense than its fresh counterpart and ensures higher carb and sugar count by weight. Take apricots for example. In 100 grams of raw apricot, there are 9 grams of net carbohydrates. But in 100 grams of dehydrated apricot, the net carb count skyrockets to 82 grams of net carbs. Pretty significant difference, and you’ll see the same thing with plums vs. prunes, raisins, cran-raisins, and all the other dried variety of fruits.
I’ve made this cheesecake twice now, and it is sooooooo easy and delicious! I’ve gotten great results by just following the recipe as you wrote it. I radically changed mine and my husband’s diet after we got the news that his blood sugar was a bit too high (pre-diabetic). His blood sugar is normal when he eats according to keto principles, and it’s nice for me to be able to give him a treat once in a while that won’t spike his blood sugar. Thanks so much for this recipe!

First, it’s important to understand how keto may help you lose weight. The purpose is to kick your body into ketosis, a natural metabolic state that forces your body to burn fat rather than carbs. This happens because, on the keto diet, you’re usually taking in 50 grams (g) or fewer of carbs per day, says Deborah Malkoff-Cohen, RD, a nutritionist based in New York City. While several types of the keto diet exist, the standard approach to this plan requires you to take in about 75 percent of your calories from fat, 20 percent from protein, and 5 percent from carbs.
Legumes (beans, chickpeas, lentil, peanuts, etc). Apart from peanuts, legumes are relatively high in carbs and should be avoided. Apart from their high carb content, legumes contain lectins and phytates which makes them hard to digest. They have been linked to leaky gut syndrome, PCOS, IBS and Hashimoto's. When it comes to peanuts, some people avoid them while others use them in moderation. If you are considering peanuts, make sure you read this post first: Peanuts on a Ketogenic Diet: Eat or Avoid?
If you have been struggling a bit with desserts that won’t break every rule of the keto way of life, here is the answer! Low-carb cheesecake can fill the void and let you enjoy your eating plan instead of missing out. This cheesecake is very, very rich, so you will probably find a small piece will satisfy your need for dessert. You can use toppings if you want to, but the plain vanilla taste is great as it is!
Over the past several decades, research on low-fat diets has evolved. Since releasing its infamous review, Time has released follow-up articles that suggest cholesterol and fat may not be as bad as originally thought. The recent popularity of high-fat diets, such as the ketogenic diet, have helped this long-despised macronutrient gain some positive traction. Still, there exist many myths and misconceptions around the ketogenic diet.
I have been on a Keto diet for a little over 2 weeks now. I am still getting tingly sensations and minor headaches, though I believe that will dissipate once I'm fully adjusted in another 2-4 weeks. I started running again and am pushing it pretty hard, so I'm sure that's contributing. It feels like when I used to starve myself for wrestling and I get a sense that my blood sugar is low. I have added hemp hearts (about 6 tablespoons per day) to help combat because I read more magnesium can help.
So that spoon you are using looks rather large, I’m not sure I have one that large, much less 6 of them. Yo do hang them individually, right? Also I’m not sure I’ll have the counter space or cups to do 6 separately… am I understanding this right? Are there other ideas for the hanging part? Have you tried any taco shell molds or the racks? Just curious if these would work also?
DO avoid fast food. I understand sometimes it might be the only option, but if you aren’t desperate don’t eat it.  I have found it doesn’t even taste good anymore. Even though you can get bunless burgers at McDonald’s or wherever, fast food just isn’t healthy. It is full of chemicals and preservatives and they usually don’t even use real cheese and the meat often has fillers. Even the salads could have hidden sugars.
So, how do we ensure enough super-plant based nutrition on keto? Fortunately there are loads of low carb vegetables and keto friendly fruit you can choose from! Let’s start with low carb vegetables - specifically the green ones! The green color in plants is called chlorophyll. Plants use chlorophyll to capture sunlight and turn it into energy. Chlorophyll protects the body from cancer and cleanses the liver. Amazingly, our bodies can also use chlorophyll inside our mitochondria. This is why green juices, made fresh or from powders, give us a rapid natural energy boost. Green leafy plants like Kale, Spinach and Collard Greens reduce the risk of cancer and many other diseases. Make sure you eat your greens on keto!
Here is another tasty low-carb and sugar-free recipe for a healthy, sweet treat you can enjoy any time! You end up with a frozen yogurt popsicle which can be flavored whatever way you like – use fresh berries or natural extracts to make your favorite! There are many different types of lolly molds on the market, but you can make these in an ice-cube tray if you don’t want to buy the equipment.
How much is “enough protein,” and how does that translate into actual meat on your plate? U.S. dietary guidelines prescribe protein based on body weight (a minimum of 0.36 grams per pound of body weight, if you want to bust out your calculator). But that’s the minimum necessary to stay alive and prevent deficiency, not the right amount for optimal health or weight loss. The classic ketogenic diet has a ratio of 4:1 fat grams:(protein grams + carb grams), meaning that the diet would be less than 20% protein by weight (grams) and 10% protein by calories. People who want to put on muscle – or people who want to lose weight more easily – often eat closer to 30% protein by calories, which is probably fine and maybe even helpful for keto weight loss, since protein helps suppress hunger. It’s perfectly fine to eat on the low end – keto isn’t necessarily a high-protein diet – but there’s a big range of totally reasonable options.

Hi Kathryn, Erythritol works differently than sorbitol. Erythritol gets absorbed in the small intestine but poorly metabolized. Sorbitol does not get absorbed and passes to the large intestine where it causes stomach discomfort and gastrointestinal issues. So, most people don’t have that issue with erythritol. Monk fruit would not increase net carbs so you could use either one, but the powdered version does have erythritol in it also.
Key Nutrient: Brazil nuts are extremely high in selenium. In fact, one Brazil nut provides more than 130% of your daily requirement for selenium, a mineral involved in maintaining healthy thyroid function, among other things. However, in order to avoid potentially toxic levels of selenium, it's best to limit your intake to a few Brazil nuts per day.
Hi Maya! I only have 2 options for sweetener on hand: Sweet-Leaf powdered Stevia, or Truvia Baking Blend. Which do you think would turn out best? The Truvia is granulated, but its made from Erythritol and seems like I can use larger quantities of it. The Sweet-leaf container says I should use MUCH less, but it’s powdered. This is my first time baking using sugar alternatives and I’m just not sure which would be better!
This is a great article!! I love pecans, walnuts, macadamia and Brazil nuts. Moderation is definitely the key. I don't think I could ever cut them out completely, and so glad this article backs up my thoughts about them. It's also nice to hear a good word about flax! For a few months now I've read nothing but bad about it and though I have some I've avoided using it. Now I think I will start adding it back in! Thanks for all this research!!

Thanks for the fabulous recipe. This cheesecake had the perfect texture and taste. I used granular Swerve in the crust and powdered Swerve in the filling. It cracked upon cooling (I placed on a wire rack immediately so maybe this contributed to cooling too quickly?) but honestly, small problem when it tastes this good. Smothered it in raspberry sauce and it didn’t matter how it looked! I will be making this regularly.
I started intermittent fasting and Keto the same day . Minimum 20hrs fasting everyday, then Keto foods to shed unwanted weight . 7 days down 11 pounds . In Ketosis , feel great , no lack of energy as I fast consuming water, green tea and black coffee . My goal is to lose 25-30 lbs then gradually remove daily fasting to alternate days . Problem I see would be kicking my body out of ketosis if I don’t fast. I feel fine consuming my carb limit inside a 2-4 hour eating cycle but feel I will go over if I don’t fast the 20-20hrs per day.

Being rich in healthy oils makes these nuts particularly good for cardiovascular health [12]. Studies on macadamia oil show that it reduces inflammation and shrinks the size of fat cells [13]. This is helpful for people with obesity as inflammation and enlarged fat cells both make the disorder difficult to manage. Besides a perfect macros profile, macadamia nuts are also a good source of B vitamins, iron, manganese, and zinc.

An alternative way to get your sweet fix in a keto-friendly diet is through fruit shakes or milkshakes. You can make your own shakes and use alternative, keto-friendly sweeteners or purchase premade shake mixes. The Atkins diet shakes, for instance, are low-carbohydrate, protein-rich shakes available in a variety of sweet flavors (anything from French vanilla to strawberry).
That's why keto die-hards are notorious for eating plenty of bacon and cheese. However, if you're tired of eating the same bunless cheeseburger every night, there are plenty of meat-based fat sources you likely haven't tried. Get creative and make one of these five fatty cuts of meat for dinner. Of course, it's best not to go overboard and eat these for every meal–most dietitians recommend getting healthy fats from plant-based sources like nuts and avocado.
Why Greek yogurt? Well, if you are not on an absolutely zero-carb diet and don’t mind some dairy, either, you must admit that Greek yogurt is one of the most enjoyable snacks out there. Moreover, it is supposed to be full of the good little guys that help the gut remain healthy. Other than that, it is a soft and fluffy alternative to cream cheese. While I don’t mind the cheese, I do find it can mess with me if I eat too much of it. Besides, I’ve seen people complaining they hated cream cheese pancakes and wanted an alternative. Hopefully, this recipe comes in handy for some of them.
However, as easy as this may sound, the key to keeping your body in ketosis is to constantly pack your meals with fatty eats and stay as far away from carbs as you possibly can, which can get quite demanding—especially if you’re not prepared. To help you maintain this ethereal fat-burning state, we’ve rounded up 14 snacks you can grab on-the-go. These eats will keep you satiated with healthy fats and boast no more than five grams of net carbs.
Looking for that hearty crunch that’s packed full of flavor? Look no more. Instead of cracking open a box of Ritz or Cheez-Its, go ahead and make your own! You can make crackers from anything including flaxseed meal (featured in The RULED Book), chia seeds, or even almond flour to make your own homemade crunchy snacks with a delicious flavor of your own.

Yogurt contains calcium, vitamins B and D, and other minerals. Calcium isn’t just essential for healthy teeth and bones. Calcium is an essential nutrient your body needs. According to the USDA, you should consume around 1,100-1,200 milligrams each day[*]. Calcium also helps your blood clot, promotes muscle contraction and helps your heart pump blood[*].
