The Plot To Dumb Down American SocietyBy Darren McDuffie
Is there a plot to dumb down American society? Merriam Webster’s online dictionary defines “dumbing down” as the following: to lower the level of difficulty and the intellectual content of.
In 2007, a rapper named Lupe Fiasco uploaded a song called “Dumb It Down” to YouTube. That song now has over 6 million views.
If you’re not a follower of hip hop, you probably wouldn’t know the song existed and you’d write it off as mere entertainment. It is anything but that.
It’s pure genius and way ahead of it’s time since it was written 6 years ago. The ironic thing about the song is it’s even more pertinent today.
We’ve just entered 2013 (Happy New Year!) but the plot to dumb down American society continues to grow stronger.
For example, how many more reality TV shows do we have to see before we realize they’re all the same?
These shows are anything but reality if you look at them.
I don’t think I know anyone who over a period of 3 months or more will go through as much drama as reality TV stars. Do you?
Most of the stuff on these shows are strategically contrived for ratings because TV producers know drama sells.
As long as drama makes money, few networks have to offer quality programming to educate and empower the people.
[As a side note, I wish we could get rid of both BET and MTV and I think we'd be half way to reclaiming our intelligence.]
While we’re talking about television, how many more American Idol knockoffs will air before people will finally say, “I’m tired?”
I was scanning channels a couple of months ago and came across a Spanish channel where they had their own version of American Idol. SMDH! (Shaking My Damn Head)
What does it say about our culture when we don’t demand anything original and of value anymore?
A few weeks ago, the community of Newtown, Connecticut suffered an awful tragedy when a gunmen killed several faculty members and young kids.
While I sympathize with the victims, I was also angry as hell because I knew the whole truth wasn’t being told and I knew it wasn’t being told on purpose.
Whether you like or not, you’re deliberately being dumbed down!
People can’t make effective decisions when they don’t have all the facts. As a result of the Sandy Hook tragedy, many people shouted for tighter gun control which isn’t the real issue.
[To see the real cause of the Newtown, Connecticut tragedy take a look at my YouTube video]
Sandy Hook is not the only event where we’re being told partial truth. The same can be said for Palestine and countless other world events. I could probably fill 5 blog posts with the dumbing down of events in American culture.
Finally, I’ll get back to my roots of health and nutrition. I’m frustrated ya’ll!
How many fat burning ebooks, diets, and exercise fads will be re-gifted to us with the same ol’ tired formula but in a shiny new package?
There’s nothing new under the sun when it comes to dieting but we’ve been led to believe otherwise. Most people know diets don’t work but I can guarantee more than half of the population will be on one to start 2013.
Some will even be on the same one in 2014.
In 2013, you have to take back your intelligence.
Many of us are doing jobs we hate, to buy sh** we don’t need, in an effort to be happy.
It’s easy to get caught up in wanting to be entertained when you are living that paradigm.
When was the last time you challenged yourself to learn more about a subject other than the face value you’re fed on the local news?
How long has it been since you visited the library or read a book that wasn’t popular fiction?
If you’re struggling to come up with answers to the last two questions of this blog chances are you’re a pawn in the plot to dumb down American society.
Happy New Year…free your mind in 2013!!!
