Here We go again!!

Posted by: | Comments (0)
What’s up everyone? A few months back I did a post where a well known protein manufacturer was cited for having rodent urine, feces and gnaw holes in its bag of ingredients. Yuck! I happen to subscribe to another health newsletter and lo and behold, here we go again! Guess what? They found a rocket fuel component in infant formula! Can you believe that? You can read more about it by clicking on this link:

 Rocket Fuel in Infant Formula

Now… if you have a baby there is some need for alarm but even if you don’t take a minute to think about what’s going into your food and drink. Many of you reading this don’t know hormones, antibiotics, and steroids are being injected into animals, so they can grow faster to go to market to be slaughtered. These animals end up in your local grocery store and eventually end up on your dinner plate. These chemicals which are injected into them end up in your body when you eat. This might be one of the reasons why you can’t lose weight! I made the switch a few years back to organic meat. If you aren’t able to get organic meats, look for the natural meats that advertise no antibiotics or hormones. You will be doing yourself a big favor. I discuss this issue of hormones and antibiotics in my “Rapid Fat Loss, Ten Ways to Shed Pounds Easily” ebook which is available for free by going here:

Until Next time… See you on the lean side!

Hey Folks! I trust that everyone had a safe and enjoyable Halloween. I hope you are not over doing it on the left over candy you didn’t give out to the trick or treaters! I got rid of my surplus as soon as the night was over… I need not fall prey to sugar cravings! If you read the last blog post, you know the scientific reasons why belly fat happens. I’ll refresh your memory just in case you may have forgotten. When you eat and drink, it causes your glucose levels ( blood sugar) to rise and the pancreas secretes insulin in order to control this rise in blood sugar. Any excess glucose still lingering around is stored as fat. It’s a simple equation, right? So… how do you control your blod sugar levels?

In order to control your glucose levels you need to eat foods which are considered to be “low glycemic”. Low glycemic foods release slowly into your blood stream and  do not dramatically affect your blood sugar the way high glycemic foods would. You’re probably wondering what are some examples of low glycemic foods, right? Here are a few: sweet potatoes, broccoli, and apples. These foods are all considered to be carbohydrates as well. Are you getting the connection? You need to control your “carbs” in order to get rid of the bellyfat. Does this mean you need to do “low carb” or “no carb”? Hmmm…how about just eating good “carbs” meaning low glycemic foods to control blood sugar.

In addition to eating low glycemic carbs, you’ll also need to spread your meals out to 5 -6 small meals a day. Most people eat three times a day and some even more if they skip breakfast! Here’s a tip for you: Don’t skip breakfast! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it starts your metabolism “humming” and gets your glucose levels running smoothly after you wake up. It sounds as if 5-6 meals a day are alot, but they are not. You are probably eating three times a day now, so if you add two healthy snacks between the three meals you are already eating its a no brainer! Ideally you’ll want to eat these meals every three hours so you can avoid peaks and valleys in your glucose levels. So what should you eat?

Here are some examples of some things you can eat to get your fat burning furnace heated up:

Breakfast            Lunch                                                                                       Dinner
Eggs                     Turkey Sandwich ( use mustard…no mayo)            Salmon Fillet
Oatmeal              Use whole wheat or sprouted grain bread               SweetPotatoe
Cantaloupe        Small Salad ( use a light vinagarette dressing)       Broccolli

These are very simplified versions of meals to keep your blood sugar levels in check! There are alot of foods out there, so don’t think you are “stuck” eating the same food all the time. You may even want to buy yourself a healthy cookbook to introduce some variety into your eating routine. I hope this helps! See you on the lean side…Dee

What’s up my peoples? If you viewed my first video on the blog, thank you! As I mentioned on the video, I wanted to bring you a two part series on belly fat namely, how it happens and how you can prevent it or get rid of it. So… how does belly fat happen?

You need to understand anything and everything you eat and/or drink can have an affect on your blood sugar levels. We live in a society where soft drinks, fast food, and junk food are prevalent and easily accessible. Most of us indulge in these things on a daily basis and thus increase the propensity for our bodies to store fat.  Why does this happen and why does the body store fat?

When you eat and drink, your glucose levels ( blood sugar) rise and its up to your pancreas to secrete insulin to control this spike in glucose. Once the insulin is secreted the glucose is leveled off and any excess glucose is stored as fat. That’s it…plain and simple!  So … is there a trick to controlling glucose? Glucose can be affected by high glycemic foods such as fast food, chips, cake etc. All of these foods can be detrimental in helping the body to rid itself of fat because they are considered to be “high glycemic”. This means they will cause blood sugar levels to rise and the body to store fat more than “low glycemic” foods. So… the trick is to control your glucose levels and for most of us that is easier said than done. Now… that’s not all.

I guess you could say a great alternative would be just to not eat, right? It isn’t that simple! When your blood sugar levels are low your body secretes a hormone called glucagon. Glucagon is essential for fat burning but too much glucagon can lead to muscle loss and a decline in your metabolism. The trick is to get insulin and glucagon in “balance” and working together to turn your body into a fat burning machine! How is this done? Watch for the next post and I’ll explain in more detail.

See you on the lean side…Dee

I wanted to do a real short post. If I could pick one thing to help you start to lose weight, it would be to eliminate unhealthy foods at night. We all fall subject to cravings right before bed and watching tv. Enjoy the video and really listen to what it’s saying.. it can really help you. I would love to know what you crave and how you handle those cravings. I can tell you mine is Peanut Butter Bumpers cereal. I love that stuff! I’ll usually eat it on a “cheat day”.
