Soda…the Silent Assassin
ByHey… I hope you had a good week and you’re looking forward to an even better weekend. I was inspired to write this post after talking to a co-worker who admitted her husband is a fitness buff but loves to drink Pepsi! I would be willing to bet there are more out there like him who seem to think soda is a harmless drink! The fact is soda is anything but harmless. Do you know what happens when you drink the average soda?
As soon as you consume a soda, ten teaspoons of sugar hit your system. Your blood sugar level then spikes and to compensate for this your liver starts to turn this sugar into fat! This is why when you are trying to lose weight and aren’t seeing results try eliminating sodas from your daily routine. If you are drinking a caffeinated soda, you are getting a double whammy! Caffeine actually acts as a diuretic (makes you urinate) thus leaving the body dehydrated. If you’ve ever had a cup of coffee and wonder why you are thirsty afterwards this is why it happens. In addition, caffeine is a drug and upon entering your system your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises and in response your liver then dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. Can you guess where the added sugar is going? Straight to your waistline! You are probably going to ask what about diet sodas? Diet sodas are loaded with chemicals that are very addicting and because of this they have the opposite effect to which they were intended. The best thing to do is grab some good ol’ water. Your body will thank you for it.
I sincerely hope you’ll eliminate soda from your daily routine, but it may be hard because it does have addictive ingredients. If what I’ve said has not convinced you to change the way you view this once thought of “harmless” drink then take the average caffeinated soda and pour it on the battery terminals of your car and watch it eat away the rust and then think about your kidneys. Are you convinced now? Check out the video and leave me a comment. See you on the lean side…Dee

I completely agree with this. I don’t drink soda, not so much because I knew this information … but because I literally feel it disintegrating my teeth. I’m convinced it’s not my imagination.
